Hookahs are water pipes that are used to smoke specially made tobacco that comes in different flavors. A premium hookah shisha brand, located on the West Coast, specializing in cocktail drink and party life flavors, currently assembles its product by hand – forming it into shape and then packaging it for distribution. That is 7,000 pounds of product per day.
Diamond America was asked to design an automated extrusion process that will form the shape of the material, consistently trim at specified lengths, and then bag the finished product. The extrusion process proposed by Diamond America will reduce the company’s electrical draw and maintenance costs. Also, due to increased efficiency, personnel will be utilized to greater effect. As a result, the company will realize a higher yield and, in turn, a greater profit margin.
