Diamond America Delivers Seamless, Cost-savings Solution

A manufacturer of a caulk free peel-and-stick trim for bathtubs, showers and countertops was looking for an improved extrusion process to both upgrade their product and eliminate third-party costs. Previously, the caulking tape was composed of two separate pieces — butyl and adhesive tape. Diamond America engineered a heated, precision application process that allowed for the butyl to be formed inline with the tape in a single V-shape. The company is currently testing the process with the Diamond America TT100 extruder and forming die in a production atmosphere.

Diamond America Answers Catalyst Customer’s Call to Scale New Heights

What once took a crane and weeks of time-intensive labor — not to mention costly downtime — is now a seamless process. Diamond America’s customer in the catalyst industry has an extruder spanning three decks that required regular maintenance due to heavy wear of components. A complete disassembly was required, often resulting in days, if not weeks, that the extruder was off-line.

Diamond America Adds Value Through Gearbox Replacement

Diamond America recently completed the design and remanufacture of a competitor’s extruder gearbox for a manufacturing firm in the petro-chemical catalyst industry. The company was experiencing high degrees of wear to the gearbox’s bronze bushings due to the fact that the catalyst they were processing was passing through the seals and corroding the bronze. To service the gearbox often resulted in days of downtime and costly replacement fees. Diamond America’s solution was to use double seals and replace the bronze bushings with roller bearings, which are non-corrosive.

Diamond America Extruders Replace Competitors, Resulting In Operational Improvements

Diamond America recently assisted a manufacturer in the petro-chemical catalyst industry in replacing a full line of one of our competitor’s extruders. The customer was looking to increase outputs without driving up costs. By replacing the old equipment with Diamond America’s TF600 Extruder, the customer has experienced increased outputs while operating at slower RPM, which resulted in increased efficiency and wear life of consumable parts (augers, barrel liners, feeders), and lower electrical consumption. Diamond America’s Extruders are able to deliver these operational improvements due to several design and manufacturing factors, including tighter tolerances resulting in reduced stagnation, better temperature control (40ºC less than old equipment), and high-quality materials of construction.
